Lisette Bourne is a Southern California native but has lived all over the state. As both a student at an international boarding school in the Midwest, as well as a foreign exchange student in Japan, she grew to love photography at the early age of sixteen. She earned her BFA in Photography from California Institute of the Arts and while studying, discovered and developed her love for teaching photography to high school students through the Community Arts Partnership (CAP) program. She then earned her MFA in Photography and Site-Specific Installation from Claremont Graduate University. Interspersed throughout her undergraduate education, Lisette taught environmental science to both southern and northern Californian youth, spanning from the San Bernardino National Forest to the Marin County shoreline and coastal mountains. These experiences heavily influence her artistic process and artwork. Lisette also holds a Master of Education, specializing in second language acquisition and serves as an Associate Professor specializing in Visual Arts Education. In her spare time, she loves to travel, both domestically and internationally, with her students. She holds clear Single Subject-Art and Career Technical Education (CTE)-Arts, Media, and Entertainment credentials.
